Introduction to Joining a Team
Looking to join a team and make new friends in your favorite game? The Teams feature provides a straightforward way for you to connect with others and dive into collective gameplay. Whether you’re looking to join a friend's team or find a new group of gamers, we’ve made the process simple and player-friendly.
How to Join a Team
Accessing the Team List
- Finding Teams: If you are not currently in a team, navigate to the Teams tab in the game. Here, you will see a list of 10 suggested teams you can join.
- Refreshing the List: This list updates each time you reopen the Teams tab, reflecting changes such as teams filling up or friends joining new teams.
Criteria for Suggested Teams
- Availability: Only teams that have at least one open slot and are open to all players (not invite-only) will be shown.
- Connection: Teams containing your Facebook friends are prioritized. The game checks up to 10 of your friends, especially those who recently sent you a gift, and displays teams they belong to.
- Sorting by Friends: Teams are sorted based on the number of your friends in them—the more friends, the higher the team appears on the list.
- Activity Level: Teams are also listed by their activity, determined by the team points earned in the last 7 days, to ensure the team is active.
Technical Behind-the-Scenes
- Comprehensive Updates: If fewer than 10 teams are initially found with friends, the backend will search for additional teams to fill the list, ensuring you always have a choice of active, friend-filled teams.
Joining a Team
- Joining Process: When you choose a team, click on it to trigger a confirmation popup.
Confirmation Popup: Confirm your intent to join. This sends a request to the backend to check if the team still has an open slot and remains open to all players. - Handling Changes: If the team has filled up or changed its status, you’ll see a popup informing you of the issue, and the team list will refresh to remove the unavailable team.
- Successful Joining: Once you join, the Teams tab will update to show the team chat, where your new teammates will see a notification stating “Playername joined the team.”
- Deleted Teams: If a team has been deleted after you attempted to join, a popup will inform you that you were unable to join.
